BoucharDanse’s Unquiet Winds by Joseph Michael Photography

Unquiet Winds
BoucharDanse
Choreographer: Denise Fujiwara
Director and Dramaturge: Marie-Josée Chartier
Costumes: Cheryl Lalonde
Dancers: Sylvie Bouchard and Brendan Wyatt

Unquiet Winds was inspired by medieval Japanese and European love poems. Its creation employs principles of Japanese Butoh dance.

I saw a girl under green laurel
Colder and whiter than the snow
Untouched by the sun for many years”.
-Francesco Petrarch

Unquiet Winds premiered in May 2012, as part of Histoire d’amour, co-presented by DanceWorks and BoucharDanse. The piece was then adapted to the park setting for Dusk Dances 2013 and 2014

In 2008 Sylvie Bouchard formed BoucharDanse, a company that serves as an umbrella for her artistic endeavors. BoucharDanse fuels her commitment to present dance in innovative ways. BoucharDanse utilizes the poetry of contemporary dance and the narrative element of theatre together in one stroke. A true fascination for narratives, and an aim to find continuum and a sense of journey in dance works, propels Bouchard’s artistic search. BoucharDanse is dedicated to projects and collaborations that bring together Francophone and Anglophone artists as well as dance and theatre artists. With the aim of widening the public for dance, and coming closer to its audience, BoucharDanse presents works in both indoor and outdoor venues. BoucharDanse continues to present new works as well as pieces that were created or co-created by Bouchard – including pieces created during her years at CORPUS, also available to presenters through BoucharDanse. During the last few years, BoucharDanse has initiated creation, production and touring projects, to name a few : The presentation of L’Implorante and L’éternel voyage at NextSteps (Harbourfront Centre), the creation of L’envol for the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre, and a tour of A Flock of Flyers: remix in Québec and Ontario.
